What is Laneway?

Laneway is a short documentary funded by Canada Council and produced by TWIXT Media Productions. Shot in the summer of 2003, the film focuses on a small house built in a back lane of a residential neighbourhood in downtown Toronto. The building's site was originally used as a garage for a small landscaping company which two young emerging architects have transformed into a unique home.

Dear Casey Kwan
My name is PJ Dahl. I am a PhD Candidate at UCLA Department for Architecture and Urban Design, Los Angeles. I am currently working on a research project about Accessory Dwelling Units – a project that is bridging my dissertation and my involvement in the UCLA think-tank cityLAB.

I am about to produce a short booklet on ADUs. I am contacting you for asking permission to include an image of the Peter Duckworth-Pilkington & Suzanne Cheng ADU that I found on the web. With your permission, I’d like to include the images for illustrating how to think about ADUs.

The booklet is a research project, hence I have are no financial interests in publishing the image and no budget to cover copy rights etc. The booklet will be published by cityLAB at UCLA (http://citylab.aud.ucla.edu/). It will be handed out for free. Your company, and the image, will, of course, be credited in the booklet.

I hope to hear back from you with a positive response.

Sincerely/PJ Dahl (pjd@ucla.edu)

Hi PJ Dahl,

I'm sorry I didn't respond sooner - I haven't been active on this blog for over a decade and just recently logged back on. If you're still interested in using this project I am more than happy to help out in any way I can. If your message is from 10 years ago - my apologies for not connecting sooner.
